About Us

Because of Them Foundation (BOTFD) was established to help future students succeed without having to worry about tuition, food, board, clothing, footwear, childcare, and transportation, a story that is familiar to its founder, Kearline Jones.   

Our goal is to remove the barriers for a student wishing to achieve academic excellence through school. So many of our black and brown children eliminate themselves before they even apply because they just can’t afford many of the items, which they will need to assist them through school.    

In reading articles and listening to programs across America, this is a major issue for students from elementary through graduate school. An item we see as small is major to a potential lawyer or doctor simply because they can’t afford a medical school application, college application fees, or no money for transportation to get to school.
